The purpose of the Epworth Military and Veterans Ministry is to recognize, support, and provide Christian encouragement to members and family members who are serving or have served in any branch of the military, with a special emphasis on those members and families who are currently serving, as well as attracting additional military personnel and their families to worship and fully participate in services and ministries at Epworth.
We in the Epworth Methodist Congregation appreciate both our current and former military members and their families very much for their patriotism, hard work, and willingness to take risks and serve in far-away, often dangerous places so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have, especially the freedom to worship. We are pleased to offer our military personnel and families support and Christian encouragement during deployments and whenever they need our support.
We thank our active military members and their families by sending them cards to let them know we appreciate their service and that we are praying for them every day. We’ll also keep them abreast of Epworth Happenings by sending them DVDs of our Sunday services, upon their request.
We recognize and celebrate our military members and their families on important military-related holidays such as Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, POW/MIA Recognition Day, and Veteran’s Day. We also sponsor a free Veterans Day Dinner each year for all our men, women, and spouses who are currently serving or have served honorably in any of our country’s Armed Services.
We participate every year in the Wreaths Across America wreath program to honor our fallen and deceased Veterans and their spouses by placing memorial wreaths on their gravesites at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Benning Cemetery, and local civilian cemeteries.
If you are a military person or family who already lives in the Phenix City, AL, Columbus, GA, or Fort Moore, GA area and is seeking a great, Biblical place to worship, or if you are a military person or family relocating to our area and seeking that kind of place to worship, we at Epworth invite you to join us, worship with us, and help us serve Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
If you have questions or would like some more information, please contact our church office at 334-298-3186.
We look forward to seeing and worshipping with you and your family soon.
